Let's Celebrate!

I love the Fourth of July! It's a holiday that my extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins celebrated with good food and good fun. At the end of the day we would go to the local park in town and spread out on the lawn and watch the fireworks show. While we were all waiting for the fireworks, we'd roll down the grassy hill and catch fireflies. It was a day where everything about the day was special and enjoyable!
This Fourth of July is even more special to all of us in America. We celebrate 250 years of declaring our freedom as a country! So many things have happened in the life of America over those past two and a half centuries. Some of those events have been tragic but many things have been full of joy. The good things and bad things have brought people in our nation together. We pray that we stay united as a country.
The Star Spangled Banner, This Land is Your Land, America the Beautiful are all songs that help us express our joy and enthusiasm for our country. These are songs that we sing at the Fourth of July, on Veterans Day or even ballgames and other times when we gather together. My favorite patriotic song is God Bless America. Here are some of the words from that song...
God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.
We can be thankful to the Lord that we live in this country with all its freedoms. We can be thankful that on Sundays we can worship at CCG, read God's word, gather as a church family. We pray He would guide us and show us how to live in community and love our neighbors. It's a wonderful land we live in and that we love! I encourage you to take time to sing about that at some point this weekend!
Hope you have a big day celebrating with your family and friends! Come and tell me about it on Sunday!
With love, Mrs. Bess
