Spring Celebrations!

We are entering a special time of year on the Christian calendar where we mark particular events in the life of Jesus. Some of them are sad days or days of reflection and others are days of celebration. Unlike Christmas Day which we mark on December 25 every year, the special days in the Spring vary dates from year to year. Let’s take a look at some of these special days for the year 2026:
March 29- Palm Sunday
Palm Sunday begins Holy Week, the last week of Lent and the final week before Easter. It is called Palm Sunday because of palms that people spread on the road as Jesus entered Jerusalem to celebrate the feast day of Passover.
April 2: Maundy Thursday
April 3: Good Friday
These two days are days of somber reflection for Christians. On Thursday we remember the Last Supper that Jesus had with his disciples before being arrested by the Romans. On Friday we mark the crucifixion of Jesus.
April 5: Easter Sunday
This is the joyful celebration of Jesus’ resurrection and the new life believers experience in Him!
May 14: The Ascension
The fortieth day after Easter is when the Bible tells us Jesus left his disciples and went up to heaven where He reigns on high with God the Father.
May 24: Pentecost Sunday
On the seventh Sunday after Easter, Christians commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples who were gathered in Jerusalem. This day also marks the beginning of the Christian church's mission to the world with the message of the gospel and salvation that is found in Christ!
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7
We have much to celebrate and give thanks for this Spring. I hope you will remember these special days with me and pray for others to come to know Jesus so that they can celebrate these special days with other believers around the globe!
