Have you ever seen one of these beautiful creatures? They are the state reptile of North Carolina and are called Eastern Box turtles. I think they are so interesting and if I could have one as a pet, I would like that! But Eastern Box turtles belong out in the wild and I look forward to encountering them on walks in the woods.
Turtles are patient animals. They don't move very fast. They are very watchful of their surroundings. God made them with shells that can close up and allow them a safe place to shelter when threatened! Here's a fun video that will introduce you to the Eastern Box turtle if you don't know about them! Notice how the raccoon eventually gives up. The turtle is very patient waiting for the raccoon to leave him alone!
This week we're learning about patience-- waiting with contentment. Patience is the fruit of the spirit that follows after love, joy, and peace. If we know that God loves us and if we we experience the joy of being God's child, then we can experience peace which results in patience as we trust that God is able to help us when we need help. He will give us all that we need in life. We can trust in His goodness and provision for EVERYTHING!
So this week, remember the turtle! Appreciate the present moment and know that God is there with you! Psalm 40:1 and 3 offers us a good word about patience and trusting in God:
I waited patiently for God to help me; then he listened and heard my cry...He has given me a new song to sing, of praises to our God. Now many will hear of the glorious things he did for me, and stand in awe before the Lord, and put their trust in him.
One day, I hope you can give a similar testimony of God's work in your life as well!
Trusting in God patiently ❤️ Mrs. Bess
