WELCOME!

Hey everyone!  Glad you have found the Good News Corner for Kids!  This blog is full of fun stuff to help you learn more about walking day by day with Jesus!

The Disciples Receive the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity. There is only ONE God, but that God is 3 in 1- God the Father, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is mentioned throughout the Scriptures, but Jesus told His disciples that after He went to heaven to be with the Father, they were to return to Jerusalem to receive the Spirit. Acts 2 is where you read this story of how they Holy Spirit came and how it gave the disciples power to continue to do the work that Jesus had called them to when Jesus asked them to follow Him.

I would encourage you to find a Bible or a Bible story book and read about it in Acts 2:1-12 if you are a good reader, or ask your Mom or Dad or big brother or big sister to read it with you if you need help finding it.

A person "receives" the Holy Spirit when they come to faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. When they turn trusting in Him to save them from their sin and ask Jesus to take control in their life, then God provides the Holy Spirit as a guide and a friend to help them. Now we may not see flames over their heads, or hear a rushing wind blowing when the Holy Spirit comes, but you can see a difference in a person when they are walking day by day with the Holy Spirit.

I'd love to talk with you about the difference the Holy Spirit has made in my life. Come on Sunday and you'll hear more about it. Until then, see if you can work this puzzle entitled "Strange and Miraculous!" and see what it reveals when you fit all the pieces together!

About

My name is Mrs. Bess!

I'm a follower of Jesus and love to teach kids (and sometimes the big people in their lives) what it means to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.  I do that through telling the stories of the wondrous things God has done.
