All Creatures Great and Small
For the past few weeks, our lessons have been based on Genesis 1. It's only one chapter in the Bible. And yet it contains our whole world in it! From God speaking light into the dark world, to the separation of the sea and the sky; from God's creation of tiny fish and birds to God's creation of enormous trees and animals. And what about all the planets and the stars and all that exists in our universe? AMAZING isn't it?!
All things bright and beautiful
All creatures great and small
All things wise and wonderful
The Lord God made them all!
Those words were written by Cecil Frances Alexander- a young woman from Ireland. Even as a child she liked to write about nature. As an older woman she wanted to help children understand God's mighty and wonderful ways as they looked around them in the world. So she wrote the words to this song.
The poem/hymn ends with this verse:
He gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty,
who has made all things well.
God made all things according to His good and perfect plan. He made all things because He loved them and loves us. So remember God's love as you go out and look around you! The trees, the stars, the birds, the rocks were made by our wise and wonderful God!
In awe of all He has done! Mrs. Bess
