Sabbath Rest

Does your mom ever say to you that it is time for a nap? I'm guessing if you are a kid you might not be excited when she says that. You probably say that you're not sleepy, but she may still tell you that it's quiet time so that others can nap- maybe a baby sister or younger brother or maybe its your mom who needs a nap! 💤

Did you know that God had a rest time? After 6 days of creation, He set aside a 7th day for resting! He had been very busy before that 7th day. Do you remember what God had been busy doing?

Creating Light and Dark

Separating the Sky and Sea and Land

☁️🌊🏔️

Putting the stars and planets in the universe

🪐🌟

Creating flowers and fruit trees and nut trees and vegetable plants of all kinds

🌻🌱🌲

Putting birds in the sky and fish in the sea

🐟🦚

Making all the other animals including PEOPLE

He did all that work of making our world and He said it was VERY GOOD!

And then He rested!

God wasn't tired out from creation. He wanted His people to have a day to rest and remember all He has done. So we do that on Sundays! Hopefully your day starts with worship and then you spend time with family, or go to the park or spend the day reading or maybe even take a nap!

So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation. Genesis 2:3
