Father, we thank you for the night...

This week in our study of Genesis, we are going to consider all the amazing aspects to God's creation. And we start with how God created night and day. It wasn't until God said, "Let there be light" that creation even came into existence. The light was so good and beneficial in so many ways- to help us see, to allow plants to grow, to keep us warm. But the night was just as important!
This hymn, entitled "Father, We Thank Thee" by Rebecca Weston, is often referred to as a Child's Morning Hymn. It's a simple little poem that can be learned and prayed by children.
When I think about the words to this piece I love how it starts out thanking God for the NIGHT! It is because of the night that we understand the beauty and joy of day! How important it is to recall God's lovingkindness in giving us night and taking care of us while we rest and knowing that as we start a new day, He will continue to meet our needs!
So I would encourage you to learn this little prayer.
Father, we thank Thee for the night
And for the pleasant morning light,
For Rest

For Food

For Loving Care

For all that makes the day so fair

Help us to do the things we should,

To be to others kind and good,
In all we do, in work or play,
To love Thee better day by day
AMEN!
With Love, Mrs. Bess
