Fish Swim and Birds Fly
A fish can swim,
A bird can fly,
The fish is in the water,
The bird is in the sky!
The fish swims deep
In the cool blue sea,
The bird sings loud
In the green-leaf tree.
They cannot trade
Where they like to roam,
But both are happy
In their own sweet home!
In Genesis 1 where we read the account of the creation we find out that fish and birds were added into our world on Day 5. That was after God had separated the water in the sky from the water on earth. It was after the sea and land had been divided.
And then God had the amazing and wonderful plan to fill the sky with birds that could fly and the sea with fish that could swim. He made each creature unique to its own special habitat. He gave beautiful feathers to the birds and swishy fins to the fishes. Again, each made to do exactly what He intended for them to do!
I love how this children's poem reminds us that "They cannot trade where they like to roam, but both are happy in their own sweet home!" If we trust that God placed each creature on earth where they needed to be to live and thrive, then we can trust our heavenly Father does the same for us!
God promises to take care of each one of his beloved creatures and that includes you and me! I may not have beautiful feathers like a parrot or lovely fins that swish when I swim as a fish does, but God made me special to love and obey Him. He knows everything I need. Let's take time to thank Him today!
Thank you for the world so sweet.
Thank you for the things we eat.
Thank you for the birds that sing.
Thank you, God, for everything.
