I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream!

Summer is coming to an end soon. Summer makes me think about enjoying something cold and refreshing on a hot day. I love getting an ice cream treat from an ice cream truck or when I go to a Summer baseball game. And it's even better if I have a gift certificate to get whatever ice cream treat I want!
Our lesson this week has something to do with getting free ice cream. We're learning the special titles of Jesus and this week we come to Jesus, our "Redeemer".
Redeemer means "to gain possession of something in exchange for payment".
You may ask what does that have to do with free ice cream. Well, when you take in that gift certificate for a free ice cream cone to the ice cream shop, they will give you an ice cream cone in return. You don't have to pay anything because the price was paid by someone else. Nice, huh?!
And when we look to Jesus as our Redeemer it means that Jesus paid the price for our salvation. There is nothing we can do or pay to get that salvation. Only Jesus is able to secure it for us through payment on the cross. Thanks be to God for His perfect gift!
