Jesus, Our Healer

I imagine that when you saw the picture at the top of the page you remembered this nursery rhyme you learned when you were young:

ree

This is a funny little story that many people have told over the years. It's sort of silly to imagine an egg man falling off the wall and breaking and spilling out on the ground. I'm sure Humpty would be hard to put together again!

But in reality when we hurt ourselves or we come down with some sort of sickness, we do have someone we can go to and ask for help and healing. His name is Jesus and one of his special titles is "Healer". We know there are a number of stories in the New Testament and the Old Testament that are stories of healing- people who had unknown illnesses, people who couldn't walk, people who couldn't see, people who had skin diseases.

In this world there are many people who have sicknesses or need healing. Some of them will be better thanks to good care by doctors and nurses. But some people won't. So why is it important to know that Jesus is our healer?

That's because the most important healing Jesus did and continues to do is to heal us from our sin. One is his disciples named Peter wrote these words about Jesus in 1 Peter 2:24: "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed."

What beautiful words those are! To know Jesus came to take our sins that we might have perfect healing and life in Him! That makes we want to sing and rejoice for all the wonderful things Jesus has done!

So I hope you'll come on Sunday and let's look at some stories of healing in the Bible. They will help us to love him more and more for all the good things he has done!

With love- Mrs. Bess

My name is Mrs. Bess!

I'm a follower of Jesus and love to teach kids (and sometimes the big people in their lives) what it means to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.  I do that through telling the stories of the wondrous things God has done.
