Jesus Prays for his followers

In John 17 Jesus prays for his followers- that they would KNOW God, that God would PROTECT them, and that they would SHARE the love of God with others.

Here's part of that prayer that Jesus prayed...

You gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything I have is a gift from you, for I have passed on to them the message you gave me. They accepted it and know that I came from you, and they believe you sent me. My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you.

I love the stories of those who were followers of Jesus. They can be found all throughout the New Testament- people who were just "ordinary" people like you and me. Their stories were written down for us to read so that we can see the difference that knowing and following Jesus made in their lives. Do you know who these people are? See if you can name them!

I love knowing that just as Jesus prayed for these followers who lived many hundreds of years ago, that he prays that prayer for me! And he will keep praying it for those who come to faith in him until he returns!
