WELCOME!

Hey everyone!  Glad you have found the Good News Corner for Kids!  This blog is full of fun stuff to help you learn more about walking day by day with Jesus!

Lions! Oh my!

Did you know that there are several stories about lions in the Bible? In the Old Testament we hear about Samson and David fighting off lions. During the time of the Bible, lions must have been common out in the wilderness.

Here are some facts about lions that might interest you:

ree

  • Lions usually live in groups of 10 or 15 animals called prides.

  • Nearly all wild lions live in Africa, but one small population is found in India.

  • A Daddy lion’s roar can be heard up to 5 miles away.

  • Lions can run as fast as 50 mph.

  • The name for a baby lion is a cub, whelp or lionet.

  • Lions hunt for food mostly at night. Mamma lions do most of the hunting and Daddy lions protect the pride.

  • Lions live for an average of 12 years and up to 16 years. If they are kept in a zoo they can live for up to 25 years.

(You can read more about lions here and here.)

This Fall we are looking at people who prayed in the Bible, and our first person we are going to talk about is the prophet Daniel. He's someone you may be familiar with and his faithfulness in prayer is an example we want to follow. So I hope you'll join me as we learn more about this man and his trust in God!

And until then, here's an oldie, but goodie Veggie Tales song to enjoy! : )

With love, Mrs. Bess

About

My name is Mrs. Bess!

I'm a follower of Jesus and love to teach kids (and sometimes the big people in their lives) what it means to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.  I do that through telling the stories of the wondrous things God has done.
