WELCOME!

Hey everyone!  Glad you have found the Good News Corner for Kids!  This blog is full of fun stuff to help you learn more about walking day by day with Jesus!

Take it to the Lord in Prayer!

Throughout the Scriptures, we see stories of people who prayed and of how prayer was a priority for those who professed faith in God.  Some of these people were kings like Solomon, some of them were prophets like Daniel and Jonah.  Some were followers of Jesus like Paul. All of them were reliant on the God’s spirit to renew their hearts.  They were people who faced great challenges and turned to God to help them in those important moments of decision or danger.  They also turned to God with their everyday needs.

There’s a hymn, What a Friend We Have in Jesus, that was written by a man in Canada in the 1800’s named Joseph Medlicott Scriven. Many people in churches over the past two centuries have sung this hymn during Sunday worship or Wednesday night prayer meetings or at other times and places. These are the words to the first verse:

What a friend we have in Jesus,

all our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit,

O what needless pain we bear,

all because we do not carry

everything to God in prayer!

I love these words!  They remind me that when we pray, Jesus is there with us.  Prayer is the way we pour out our heart to a good and loving Heavenly Father.  Prayer allows us to tell God how we are feeling and what we are struggling with in life. And Jesus is our friend who bears these burdens and comforts our hearts.

So let’s take time to pray each day!  When we wake-up in the morning, and when we go to bed at night!  When we eat our breakfast, or lunch or supper; when we are sick or hurting or sad.  When we have something to celebrate and for all the many things in life that we can THANK GOD for!

My name is Mrs. Bess!

I'm a follower of Jesus and love to teach kids (and sometimes the big people in their lives) what it means to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.  I do that through telling the stories of the wondrous things God has done.
